Horticulture and Planting Design
Horticulture and planting design are an integral part of our practice, and we are passionate about the difference good, diverse planting design can make to any landscape. Our entire core team of landscape architects also hold horticulture qualifications, and one of the joys of our work is that we design not only landscapes, but also gardens.
Our landscapes and gardens are built around a strong understanding of plants and their maintenance, environmental and growing requirements, supplemented by Andrea's experience as a consulting arborist. Our wide plant knowledge, informed by our background in horticulture and experience working with botanic gardens and the University of Melbourne's renowned Burnley College, allows us to create landscapes which are beautiful, diverse and resilient. We do this by tailoring our planting design to the space - from non-irrigation roundabouts and median strips maintained twice a year, through to fully curated botanical and residential gardens.
In addition to planting design we also take on strategic horticultural projects such as horticultural master plans, landscape succession planning, tree strategies, heritage horticulture and living collection management plans. These work at a range of scales from an individual garden through to a municipality as a whole. We are especially excited about working with botanic gardens' living collections, and developing a strategic, achievable approach to managing plant collections, one that supports both the individual garden, and the wider botanic gardens' network in their plant conservation and horticulture work.
