Master Planning
At apl we have seen the difference a well-produced master plan can make to the long-term management of a place, providing an agreed vision which brings managers, the public and stakeholders together and allows work to be carried out in a logical way, and with the understanding and support of all involved. This is done by considering the needs and desires of a place as a whole, addressing issues in an integrated way, informed by a complete understanding of problems, opportunities, long-term goals, management requirements and industry best practice. Our master plan processes have been developed over more than fifteen year's of producing master plans for schools, parks and gardens, and strengthened through Andrea's four year secondment to the Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria as part of the team delivering the Melbourne Gardens Master Plan 2020-2040.
We have seen time and again how a Master Plan eases planning and grant applications, allowing funds to be spent in the most efficient way possible, and for small projects to work effectively together to build a larger vision for the place. A Master Plan acts as an important tool which builds confidence that decisions are considered, rational and in the best interests of the place. This often results in projects being funded and built thatwere not thought possible. It is this complex planning and problem solving that apl find particularly rewarding, and as a practice we enjoy working with clients and stakeholders to produce this agreed vision.
