Schools, Children's Spaces and Nature Based Play

Nature based play spaces have become an important part of regional botanic gardens, inspired by Andrew Laidlaw’s pioneering work on the Ian Potter Foundation Children’s Garden in the early 2000s.   This has given us the opportunity to work on many nature based play spaces, both in public parks and gardens, and in educational settings.   Through this we have seen how the right garden or landscape can transform a town, or a school, providing rich, inviting settings which inspire children’s physical, social, and creative play, and creating calming, inclusive spaces which inspire a lifelong love of the natural environment.
